1.      Interval-scaled variables

            e.g., salary, height

 

2.  Binary variables

            e.g., gender (M/F), has cancer (T/F)

 

3. Nominal (categorical) variables

            e.g., religion (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, etc.)

 

4. Ordinal variables

 e.g., military rank (soldier, sergeant, lutenant, captain, etc.)

 

5. Ratio-scaled variables

 Population growth (1, 10, 100, 1000...)

 

6. Variables of mixed types

            Multiple attributes with various types
